The top section of a shires fly rug is usually waterproof to protect against showers and the lower mesh panels dry quickly and allow air flow, helping your horse stay cool in warm weather. They also feature anti-rub lining along the neck and shoulders, a grazing friendly hood and large tail flap, quality and comfortable fastenings, three straight surcingles and touch close clip front closures designed to distribute pressure and prevent rubbing.

The Shires Highlander Plus Sweet-itch combo fly rug is ideal for changeable warm weather when flies are a nuisance. The tough ripstop 600 denier polyester fabric is hardwearing and resists field wear, while the breathable lower mesh panels dry quickly and promote airflow. This combination of fabrics provides a first defense against sweet-itch while the grazing friendly hood and large pleated tail flap keep the entire body covered. This rug offers 90% UV protection, deep shoulder gussets, buckle chest straps, leg strap loops and an adjustable fillet strap.

Using a monochromatic pattern that mimics zebra stripes, the patterned Shires Tempest Sunflower Fly combo is an effective repellent against flies and insects. The mesh fabric is durable and quick drying, while the contrasting polka dots and stripes make this a truly stand-out design. It has a high polka dot count, making it up to 10 times more effective than normal polycotton rugs, and a strong, waterproof 600 denier ripstop top section with a soft polyester fly mesh bottom. The patented disc front closure removes pressure and distributes weight to prevent rubbing on the shoulder and chest, while the shaped combo neck extends up to the brow to provide extra coverage. Other features include a grazing friendly hood, a belly flap with shaped edge, three straight surcingles and the patented self-righting front closure that distributes weight to help your horse self-right when lying down.

This is a light and airy mesh fly rug with 80% average UV protection. The tight knit mesh does a fantastic job of creating a barrier from biting insects and is ultra-breathable to allow free movement of air. It has a long-cut detachable neck cover secured with double locking Velcro, reflective strips and soft lining on the shoulders and mane. The breathable side panels dry quickly and promote airflow, and it has buckle chest straps, cross surcingles and an adjustable fillet strap.
